Wood panel grilles attached to structural steel supports were used to create acoustical transparency and the illusion of a smaller intimate performance space. Grille ceilings and walls allowed theatrical lighting to be hidden along with acoustical media.
Located at the intersection of 14th Street and 5th Avenue in Manhattan, this new multipurpose facility is the “heart” of The New School.
The LEED® Gold building provides space for all aspects of a traditional campus. Perforated wood veneer panels were provided with FSC certification and chain of custody documentation. The cantilevered panels provided equipment shielding and integral light coves.
